Thank you (12/12/16)
What a WONDERFUL event. My friends and I were in awe of the magnitude of the event. We had never even heard of it until this award.Thank you again for all you do for the animals. I hope that dozens of them were adopted.
It’s over, take a deep breath, enjoy the holidays and know that you have gone over and above to assist the community at large.
Gail Majors, winner of the 2016 12k’s of Christmas Spirit of Giving Award presented by Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport
Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your event. It is loads of fun and very well run. There’s lots to see and do, and the musical interludes along the course are all great. The enthusiastic young people at the various stations on the course are a great asset.
This is the seventh year that I’ve run this race, accompanied each time by my dog, Lucas. As he ages we may move to the shorter distance but intend to keep coming. A few years ago, I was telling my mother-in-law what a fun atmosphere it was and asked if she’d like to come along. I thought she’d just hang out while I did the run but she surprised me by saying that she wanted to walk the 6K – as long as she could borrow one of my dogs to do it with. So, in 2014, she did her first ever athletic event … in her eighties! She is very proud of her accomplishment, and displays her medals in a shadowbox with photos of the event. She tells anyone who will listen about her race. This is truly the highlight of her year. She gets a kick out of wearing her matching elf costume and beams the whole time. This is such fun for her that we did the Kiss Me I’m Irish event this year and she likes that even better! Please note that when I offer to take her to one of your races it involves committing to making four matching costumes – two human and two canine. But that certainly adds a fun element to the event. We are contemplating the Redneck Run for next year, as I think I’d like to run the “triple crown.”
Anyway, I just wanted you to know how much we both appreciate your efforts in putting on such great events.

Animals Helping People
On April 2010, Olivia Duron, at the age of 27 became blind with the complications of Leukemia. After such a painful and life-changing experience she was very excited to hear about the 12k’s of Christmas and the rescue program. After being guided through a couple of trailers, she could not resist the sound of a little dog. She asked to hold him and the rest was history. This little dog’s devotion and love have helped Olivia through her most trying times and he continues to give her strength daily. Olivia says “Gizmo healed a hole in my heart” and she asks everyone looking for unconditional love to visit the 12k’s of Christmas event every year!
