RACER INSTRUCTIONS

Course (12k = 7.5 miles)

The 12k starts and ends at Gilbert’s Freestone District Park with an out and back route along Western Powerline Trail. It’s a flat, scenic trail – mainly running on packed gravel past farms and behind the Riparian area – with only 3 street crossings. NOTE: the police have closed these roads for the duration of the run.

Registration

Participants are invited to pre-register on-line or using the mail in form. Late registration is available on-site and at advance packet pickup.  The first 1200 race entries received will receive limited edition 12k’s of Christmas running socks!

Advance Packet Pickup

Race numbers and registration packets will be available on Thursday December 13th at Roadrunner Sports in Tempe Marketplace starting at 3 pm. (Yes, you can pick up packets for other runners.) Packet pickup is also available the morning of the event between 7:30 and 9:30 am.

Run/Walk Information

The 12k will begin at 10:12. Pets are welcome, but dog-owners will be asked to line up in the back of the pack.  Water Stations will be at 1.5/10.5k, 3/9k, and 6k with water for you and your dogs. Porta-potties will be at Val Vista, Greenfield and Guadalupe roads.  First Aid is at the start / finish line in the park. After you finish, drop by Santa’s Food Court for beverages and snacks from Albertsons.

Awards

Medal presentations will begin at 11:30 am with medals for the 1st through 3rd place finishers in each age category, and a special gift for our fastest Male and fastest Female. There will also be “judges” awards for the Most Christmas Spirit (Male and Female), Best Christmas Themed Running Outfit and Best Dressed Pet. The Judges Parade presented by Printing Specialists from 8:30 to 10 am, and prize winners can pick up their gifts from under the Christmas tree any time after the race. A list of winners will be posted.
